We sell unique, child friendly teaching resources to give children back their love of learning. Education has become very test driven, with many resources in a 'test format' . This can become very uninspiring for learners and be a cause for lack of motivation and enthusiasm. At Applefortheteacher, we create teaching resources to give children the skills they need academically, socially and emotionally, whilst encouraging that important 'love of learning'. Inspiring learners to thrive!

Read Trace Write sheets EYFS SEN KS1 Phonics Phase 2 CVC words

EYFS, SEN & KS1 Read Trace Write sheets for Phonics Phase 2 CVC words. This is a lovely activity for children in their first stages of development in reading and writing. The activity includes clear, bright illustrations and photographs to support children in their recognition and sounding out of the words. The Phase 2 words shown on the cards should be sounded out and read first, then they can be traced by the learners. The letters and sounds which make up each word can be then written in the grids provided. Encourage children to also look at the shape of the words as this does help when writing the words themselves.

Roald Dahl Bundle of Activities

To celebrate Roald Dahl day, we want to give something to teachers and educators, who are preparing activities to mark the great achievements from the story telling genius. We have designed 16 fantastic activities, based around familiar stories. Some activities are suitable for EYFS/SEN and KS1 children, others are suitable for children in KS2. There are a range of exciting science experiments for a selection of characters from familiar stories, there is a crossword, a wordsearch and some revolting rhyme ideas. We have even included matching cards which can be played where two of the same need to be matched for younger learners, but then we have designed a higher level matching cards game, which takes a little more thinking about, matching 2 objects that relate to particular stories written by Roald Dahl. Some of these activities have been created to really test your knowledge of Roald Dahl stories. We hope you enjoy a little gift from us to you. Happy Roald Dahl Day :-)

This is a lovely activity for children with Special Educational Needs working below the national curriculum. There are illustrations and photographs of animals. The children can listen to the sounds of the animals which an adult can play on the computer or make the sounds themselves, the children can then point to the animal that would make that particular sound. Can also be used to encourage children to name the animals, or point to animals when prompted by name.

These are great sheets which I have used with a range of learners, including learners with Special Educational Needs who were not able to write. They signed/verbalised their caption for an adult to write down word for word. A great assessment tool for all learners to show their level of understanding. Can also be used for children to write their own captions for EYFS, KS1 and KS2. A fabulous resource to inspire creative writing and thoughts.

Here you will find a great set of comprehension activities for young learners. Starting with photographs and illustrations 20 pages in total to download, to encourage children to look at detail in the pictures and prompt discussion. Imaginative ideas can come from discussing and thinking carefully about what is happening in a picture. Children can then draw their own interpretation of what will happen next and explain it. A great tool to encourage information retrieval and confidence with ideas and imagination. Also included are 3 short comprehension activities, with short simple sentences, to not overwhelm new readers with difficult text and language. The comprehension is the key function of these activities, to develop tools to find and fetch information and understand what has been read. Putting children at the core of their learning…

Early comprehension Activities

This is a great bundle of comprehension activities for children who are not able to write legibly, but are able to read. In order to assess reading and comprehension skills we need to check their understanding. These activities are brilliant for doing just that. The activities encourage children read the story / instructions and then find the sentences/pictures to stick in the correct places to show the answers. Other sheets encourage looking at pictures or reading information to find clues and children can make a mark on the answers they believe to be correct. A great activity for children with Special Educational Needs who find writing a struggle.

A fantastic tried and tested activity. This has been used with learners with Special Educational Needs who struggled with the phonics phases.
